Was ‘Shaving’ in my Job Description?

I don’t know when I started to realise that my role as an SLP working in a school for children with intellectual disabilities in Samoa wasn’t going the way that I thought it would. Perhaps it was when I was sitting down clipping teenaged boys toenails. Or when I was appointed toothbrushing supervision duty. It definitely clicked that something wasn’t quite right when I had a line of young men lined up for me to shave their beards. If my career as an SLP didn’t work out, I could definitely open up a barbershop!

Such is the life of an SLP working in developing countries…
